Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.

SRE online

The Minister for Education has approved the ongoing delivery of SRE lessons during the current climate, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Currently only Combined Christian Churches (also known as Protestant scripture) and Buddhist SRE are running at Ulladulla Public School.

Students and their families may access online lessons for their chosen SRE using the links below.

Combined Christian Churches

This includes Christian Churches such as Anglican, Baptist, Uniting and Groundswell Church. All students are welcome regardless of church background.  Lessons can include stories from the Bible, songs, class discussion, small groups, writing activities, drama, games, craft and new learning technologies. Lessons are based on Christian curriculum which has been approved by the department. More information about Combined Christian Churches SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, can be found at the following link.

Buddhist SRE

Buddhist SRE provided by Buddhist Council of NSW. More information about Buddhist SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Buddhist council website https://www.buddhistcouncil.org/.

Primary Ethics has created a series of 20 lessons to help children practise their skills in critical thinking and ethical reasoning as they continue their mixed learning methods during term 2.

These lessons can be downloaded at no cost from primaryethics.com.au/education

Primary Ethics is an independent, not-for-profit educational organisation and the only approved provider of Special Ethics in Education to NSW public schools.
